Writing Angry

I don’t know about you but I have a serious problem, writing Angry. Doesn’t sound that bad right? Well for someone like me, a professed writer (blogger), it can be. It can put your life/career/hobby on hold for an extended amount of time. It can cause writers block. It can create a dam of emotion that nothing can penetrate. Because when I start writing Angry all I’m turning out is things that sound something like complaining like I’m not appreciative for all the Blessings I DO have or ranting like I’m mad at the world for the hand I’ve been dealt, which is totally not the case. I mean granted, I have my share of hindrances but my blessings are beyond compare and yes I’ve been down many broken roads and darkened paths but look where I am today. I can’t complain about the trip when the destination is so amazing.

I use to write often, many times a month, but for a while now I have had a lot going on in my personal life that has caused me to be in a constant swirl of emotion. It is hard to find the “perfect” time to write. I have found music is a good therapy tool to set my mind at ease so that I can slip into a comfort zone sometimes. I am very eclectic when it comes to music, some of my favorites are Linkin Park, Reba McIntyre, Muse, Bruno Mars and Carrie Underwood. However, when I am wanting to find true relaxation I rely on the true classics like Debussy, Mozart and Chopin. When I’m just not in the mood for music there is one thing that always makes me feel better no matter how I am feeling. I think everyone probably has that. That one “go to” when nothing else will work and you just need to feel better, whether your angry, sad, agitated or what have you….for me its (and don’t laugh) Twilight. If I need to write, I’ll put my favorite movie from the series in the blue-Ray and just leave it playing in the back ground while I set at the computer and concentrate. It takes a few minutes to get in the zone, but as the movie progresses so does my writing.

So if you find yourself having an emotional blockade of some kind, find your relaxation technic and put it to good use. I personally suggest classical music. Chopin’s Nocturne’s are very soothing and excellent for relaxation. Music has always been a good outlet and many therapist will also recommend it as an alternative therapy.
