Nicole Lyons

I am a 36 year old mother of two daughters 5 & 7 years old. I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder 1 about 13 years ago but I ignored it. I was in comets denial. How could a functioning caregiver have a mental illness? I worked as a nursing aide for 13 years. I made poor choices and attempted suicide twice. After the birth of my second child I was diagnosed with postpartum depression and prescribed an SSSRI that triggered my biggest manic spell which ended with me being hospitalized. I have a history of jumping off of my medications, but am proud to say that I have been faithfully medicated for just over a year now.

I volunteer as a speaker and event coordinator for the Canadian organization Partners For Mental Health, and have been featured in our local newspaper as well as on one of our radio stations. I am currently promoting the campaign to bring awareness to youth suicide. I have a Facebook page with 9000+ followers called The Lithium Chronicles. If you require any more information please let me know. I look forward to hearing from you.
