Circadian rhythm disruptions are more than just a side effect of bipolar disorder. In this webinar, Dr. Colleen McClung will explore the science behind the body’s internal clock and its critical role in mood regulation. She’ll explain how circadian genes influence brain circuits that contribute to bipolar symptoms and how targeting these pathways may lead to more effective treatments. This session will offer insights into cutting-edge research that links the biology of timekeeping with mental health, and it will highlight the promising future of circadian-based therapeutics.
Dr. Colleen McClung is a Professor of Psychiatry and Clinical and Translational Science at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Her research focuses on understanding how disruptions in circadian rhythms and sleep contribute to psychiatric disorders, including bipolar disorder and depression. She is internationally recognized for her work on circadian gene regulation and its impact on brain function. Dr. McClung has received numerous awards for her innovative research and has published extensively on the relationship between mood disorders and the body’s internal clock.
