What does “managing bipolar disorder” look like for you in daily life?
Managing my bipolar disorder starts with staying on top of my medication and sleep, learning about triggers and most importantly, compassion for myself. Getting outside at least once a day is also really important to me. The more I focus on looking after myself, the easier it is to manage my mood. Though this is easier said than done, it’s always a good starting point – self care!
What does strength mean to you now?
Strength to me now means embracing the ups, downs and in-betweens, being kind to myself and living in the moment. I’ve found my strength through songwriting. It’s my greatest form of journaling and therapy!
What do you wish more people understood about living with bipolar disorder?
I wish people understood how debilitating it can be but also so inspiring. People with bipolar disorder are some of the most compassionate humans out there. We’re creative, big thinkers with kind hearts!
What helps you feel most like yourself?
Songwriting helps to ground me and get out any emotions I’m feeling. It’s a great creative and cathartic outlet for me.
