What does “managing bipolar disorder” look like for you in daily life?

Managing bipolar means to me that I can do all things but I have to be aware of what my body is telling me so I won’t get into mania or depression. Also, taking my medication regularly is one of the best things I can do to help.

What does strength mean to you now?

For me, strength means dealing with the mood swings without losing control of my life. Quitting drug abuse made me even stronger!

What do you wish more people understood about living with bipolar disorder?

I wish people understood that we’re not over reacting and our brain chemistry works different. We’re doing our best to live life, just like them, but we’re just a bit more intense.

What helps you feel most like yourself?

I love my pole classes and doing artistic makeup. When I’m doing it, I feel like I can put my feelings into something visible.
