Dr. Susan C. Maloney has worked as a nurse for 25 years and a Family Nurse Practitioner for 16 years in myriad settings including internal medicine, older adults, college health and women’s health/mental health issues.
Susan is currently teaching full-time at Edinboro University in the nursing department where she has taught mental health nursing for the last 10 years. Her doctorate is in Health Psychology and she maintains a private practice where she conducts seminars, health coaching and individual counsel related to depression issues and also nutrition/fitness and body image issues.
In addition, Susan works part-time as a personal trainer and has competed as a professional, lightweight athlete for several years. She is a spokesperson for the National Celiac Awareness Foundation (NFCA) having been diagnosed with Celiac disease three years ago. Susan hosts several gluten-free blog sites and is working on publishing a handbook on the extra-intestinal symptoms of Celiac disease.
Susan spoke at the National NAMI conference this year in San Antonio and was honored to be asked to do so. She is active in her local mental health awareness program in Crawford County (CHAPS) as both a board member and a health educator.
