Ryan Heffernan is an Australian author and writer. His latest work is a dreamy, soulful, funny and ink black bipolar memoir, Clown & I (2018). Clown & I is a unique and confronting exploration of Ryan’s magical and magnetic life with bipolar disorder, where life and success have been writ large, but ruination forever lurks in the form of broken relationships, addiction and poverty, frequently destabilizing his role as a father to a young boy. Ryan advocates for his global kin with mental illnesses, specially those with bipolar disorder. He does so using a mixture of prose and street poetry that focuses on stories of love and loss. Ryan is also a blogger for International Bipolar Foundation!
