Something I Am Proud Of:

The thing I am most proud of is finishing my over three-hundred-page memoir about my experiences entitled Daddy Issues: A Bipolar Memoir. I have lived through so much, and I’m so proud that I’ve been able to make sense of my life in a meaningful and positive way. I hope that I will be able to help others by sharing my story of recovery.

Advice For Newly Diagnosed:

When I was first diagnosed, I thought it was the end of my world. My diagnosis hit me especially hard, because I’d already seen the havoc bipolar disorder had wreaked on my family, since I grew up with a bipolar father. However, once I learned that bipolar disorder – although incurable – can be successfully managed with the right treatment, I’ve been able to live a full, happy, and successful life in recovery. If I can recover and thrive, I believe anyone can. It’s a journey. It may take a lot of trial and error with everything from medication to relapses, but it is possible to live a normal, fulfilled life with a bipolar diagnosis.
