Charlie Kaplan

My name is Charlie. I am a writer and graduate student pursuing a degree in English and creative writing.

After living with symptoms unchecked for many years, I was diagnosed with bipolar I disorder at the age of 31 in 2015. I am also diagnosed with anorexia nervosa, ADHD, and generalized anxiety disorder. I live in Florida with my husband and dog.

My experiences with bipolar disorder began at a young age as symptoms of psychosis. It progressed throughout my teen years until I unraveled during college, experiencing full blown episodes of mania and depression. For the longest time, I didn’t know why I had certain experiences or what to do about it. I finally became fed up and sought help, which led to a diagnosis.

I have two blogs that I update regularly, Decoding Bipolar and Accepting ADHD. I am also a writer for NewLifeOutlook ADHD.
