What’s one challenge that turned out to be a turning point for you?
I found that it was really hard to be open and find others who are going through the same issues. I found my voice and I am now a mental health speaker for adolescents at Minding Your Mind organization!
What is something you wish your friends who do not have bipolar disorder knew?
I wish my friends could understand that we have our highs and lows just like them but ours take some extra time and care until we feel back to ourselves.
What helped you feel less alone in your experience?
After learning that speaking out about my illness isn’t something terrible I immediately went online and found wonderful foundations (IBF) with others who wanted to share their stories too! I realized I wasn’t alone.
How do you express yourself creatively or emotionally?
I express myself through new hobbies! Whether it’s finding out I love watching baseball (Go Phillies!), or teaching myself how to play golf, I just love trying new things! I just like to prove to myself that I am capable of living a normal life just like everyone else.
